 |
Narrabri Shire Band began in the 1870's with
3 bands in 1894; one being a Salvation Army Band. |
 |
The district has been served, except during
WW1 and WW2, by community bands. |
 |
Until the mid 1960's, players were
predominately male. Today's band is an even blend of male and female
players. |
 |
The modern band also has a much younger age
group than most ensembles until the mid 1980's. |
 |
The band has always been a voluntary
organisation. |
 |
Until 1980, the Narrabri band attended very
few functions or competitions in other Shires or States. Since that time,
the band has been a regular competitor at local, state and national levels,
achieving considerable success. |
 |
To ensure the ongoing success of the Narrabri
Shire Band, a professional approach was adopted to train and retain the
musical talent in our local youth. |
 |
The members, regardless of age, have a
professional attitude to the rigorous requirements necessary to produce a
high quality music organisation. |
 |
Families are the backbone of the group and
family members grow together to share some wonderful memories. |
